An urban regeneration project integrating engineering, architecture, environmental sustainability, and public space.

Techproject, as the lead company, has won the international design competition launched by the Italian State Property Agency (Agenzia del Demanio) for the new Provincial Carabinieri Headquarters in Syracuse and the Mediterranean Park.

The winning proposal was developed in collaboration with DKA – Diele Kerciku Architetture, responsible for the architectural and urban design, and Greenwich – a Socotec Company, in charge of environmental sustainability strategies.

Located in the Contrada Pizzuta area, the project presents a new vision of public infrastructure, combining functional efficiency, technological innovation, architectural quality, and integration into the urban context.

The development covers an area of approximately 28,000 sqm and includes the construction of the new Carabinieri Headquarters, residential buildings for personnel, and an approximately 18,000 sqm Mediterranean Park, conceived as the central element of the urban transformation.

The design is structured around an integrated system of buildings, public pathways, and green spaces, with particular emphasis on environmental comfort, climate resilience, and the enhancement of the Mediterranean landscape.

The proposed solutions incorporate passive sustainability strategies, natural ventilation, solar shading, permeable surfaces, and drainage systems, helping to reduce environmental impact and improve microclimatic conditions.
