Over the past week, we’ve been working on the Orte–Falconara line extension, a key project to enhance the national rail network.
The project involves the construction of a link road between the Orte–Falconara line and the Adriatica line on the north side of Falconara, eliminating the need for trains to maneuver inside the Falconara Marittima station. This improvement will improve traffic flow, reduce travel times, and increase network capacity.
Among the ongoing works, the construction of the VI21 viaduct over the Esino River is proceeding according to schedule: a structure approximately 1.6 km long, designed to allow the new railway line to pass over the river.
Once completed, the new interconnection will provide a more direct connection between the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian mainland, bypassing the Falconara hub and creating an alternative route between Rome and Northern Italy. The benefits will also be significant for freight traffic, with an estimated saving of up to 30 minutes in travel time and greater efficiency of connections between the southwest and northeast of the country.
This project also represents a key component of the broader project to double the Orte–Falconara line, one of the most strategic rail links in the national network and a key link between Umbria and Marche. Every advancement in this project represents an investment in a more modern, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure for the future of rail transport.
